Green Street released some renderings of Bar K, their dog-themed bar and restaurant at 4565 McRee between Kingshighway and Vandeventer. Green Street and recently acquire HDA architects will locate their office in the 64,000 square foot development. The Bar K facility will include extensive indoor and outdoor areas for supervised dog play adjacent to bar, restaurant, and event space. In addition, Bar K will create a dog adoption and pet education facility in partnership with Purina-owned pet-adoption site Petfinder.com, as well as Stay@Bar K, a 6,700 square foot daycare and grooming facility in collaboration with St. Louis-based Kennelwood.
The development received $7M in New Markets Tax Credits. The $20M project will host 50 employees between Green Street and HDA. They plan to move in this fall.
At the December meeting of the Planning Commission, Green Street submitted zoning changes for the development. This included rezoning for a $60 million mixed-use development project consisting of 260 apartments, 1,500 square feet of commercial space and structured parking at 4591 McRee Ave. This new building is still under consideration along with other options for the remaining land. The rezoning passed the Board of Aldermen, BB187, unanimously on February 5th.
