A $250,000 permit has been issued for 1725-27 Lafayette at 18th in the city’s Lafayette Square neighborhood. Renovation will result in conversion from 4-family to 2-family building.

    Just throwing this out there: wouldn’t the demand in the neighborhood dictate keeping it a four-family building?

      I would think so and generally I prefer that these buildings stay as 4 family flats. However, it could be more profitable to sell two larger homes than renting 4 apartments or selling 4 smaller condos. Maybe there is more of a market for larger homes in Lafayette square than apartments

      Could say the same for every “desirable” (read not totally fucked) nabe in the City, yet the conversions continue in Soualrd, Benton Park, Fox Park, Shaw, TGS, FPSE etc

        I suspect it warrants more close inspection when they make applications for renovations.
