Kranzberg Art Foundation planning new Grand Center facility

Kranzberg Art Foundation planning new Grand Center facility

The 2-story brick building as 3301 Washington Avenue, just to the west of Urban Chestnut’s Grand Center location, is being planned as an arts community center.

When completed, the first floor will hold a cafe, library, gallery, and performance event space. The second floor will be a co-working-style writer’s studio space and other offices geared towards incubating “fledgling art organizations”, according to a press release from the foundation.

Space will be providing architecture and design services on the project, having previously worked on the Grandel and the .ZACK for the Kranzberg Art Foundation.

With the Grand center artists lofts nearby, SLU right next door, and the foundation’s seeming focus on the writing arts for this facility, it may see success. Intersect Arts opened similar facility, without the writing focus or cafe, in early 2018.
