Construction to Begin on Rockwell Beer Company in The Grove

Rockwell Beer Company announced today they will begin construction on their new brewery at 1320 S Vandeventer next month. New renderings by JEMA show the addition of modified shipping containers to form an outdoor courtyard and elevated deck. The facility will include a 2,000 sqft tasting room and 15-barrel brew house. Green Street will be the contractor. The project will also incorporate a yet-to-be-announced new food concept by Gerard Craft’s Niche Food Group.

The owners of Rockwell Beer Company are hosting an open house at CORE (4411 Vista Ave) this afternoon at 4pm to present their plans.

UPDATE 12/21: More details in the press release

Rockwell Beer Company is excited to announce a partnership with Green Street St. Louis for the redevelopment of 1320 S. Vandeventer in the City of St. Louis, currently the home of HM Dinzler Equipment Company. In the Second Quarter of 2018, Rockwell will open its tasting room, retail store and production facility at the center of what will be the first phase in the redevelopment of a major stretch of Vandeventer Avenue in The Grove.

The partnership with Green Street was a natural fit for the Rockwell team. Their award-winning portfolio (with over 5 million square feet of development experience) includes Sheet Metal Workers Local 36, Dynalabs, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company Grove Brewery and Bierhall and coming soon, CHROMA – a $50M+ mixed use development at the entrance to The Grove (a partnership with The Koman Group), as well as The Armory District – an $83M+ redevelopment of the iconic Armory building and surrounding area.

Green Street St. Louis is an entrepreneurial, full-service real estate solutions provider that distinguishes itself through the application of sustainable design and building principles in the adaptive reuse of infill locations. Green Street utilizes its established experience to complete innovative real estate projects as an advisor, a developer, and as a property owner.

Rockwell Beer Company has selected JEMA Studio for the design and architecture of its Vandeventer location. JEMA is a nationally-renowned firm of architects, interior designers, urban planners, craftsmen and innovators whose goal is to create places that promote and enhance our social, economic, and environmental well-being. Their unique aesthetic and approach to design will help Rockwell establish itself as a must-visit destination for the St. Louis metro area and beyond.

Early in 2018, Rockwell will release an updated branding package that will appear on all marketing including a new website, cans, bottles and other assorted merchandise. TOKY was selected to provide Rockwell with a collaborative journey into the world of brand strategy, digital and brand identity development. TOKY has offices in St. Louis and Denver with an award-winning staff full of thoughtful creators who are solving problems for organizations that improve the world.

This project would not be possible without the hard work of Duff & Phelps for incentives and development consulting, Abeles & Hoffman for accounting and business consulting services and SmithAmundsen for legal counsel on real estate, regulatory, corporate, transactional and L&E matters.

Huge thanks are due for the collaborative support that Rockwell has received from the City of St. Louis, Alderman Joe Roddy, Park Central Development, Saint Louis Development Corporation, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Saint Louis Economic Development Partnership.

Finally, Rockwell is thrilled to announce that it will be the home of a brand-new food concept from Gerard Craft and Niche Food Group. The James Beard Award-winner and team behind Pastaria, Sardella, Taste, Brassiere, and Porano is currently in the process of finalizing a concept that is certain to further enhance the already fantastic relationship between food and beer. The name of the project and additional details of this standalone concept will come from the Niche team in the near future.

Although this project has taken two years to reach its current state, the Rockwell team is confident that it can provide a unique and dynamic customer experience that will compete on both a local and national level. Often, more time improves the final product – this is the case with Rockwell Beer Company in 2018.
