This should be received as a good sign for city officials who had been concerned about the growth and development of the NRBC which is a roughly 3,000 acre stretch along seven miles of riverfront in north St. Louis. The NRBC is home to more than 500 businesses that employ more than 10,000 people. These business include Dial Corp., healthcare products provider Covidien, and longtime St. Louis company Gunther Salt.

Covidien, according to the source, plans to move their research and development from the NRBC to its Hazelwood based pharmaceuticals segment or build a new facility. The company will then convert the vacated space in the NRBC to manufacturing.
