2013 Predictions for St. Louis

crystal_ball_dude_lgFor several years, nextSTL Forum members have introduced a thread to speculate on developments in the coming year. You can join that discussion here. So this is a week or so late and the year is already off to a fast start with the announcement of the Shaw Garden Brewery and announcement that the Sun Theater in Midtown will be renovated, but surely there's much more to come. Feel free to critique, discuss and add your own in the comments. In no particular order:
  • MLS ownership group emerges, announces intention to move team to St. Louis
  • Rams stay in downtown St. Louis, announcing $400M renovation plan
  • Whole Foods, Lindell CVS, Hampton Mercedes-Benz, Shriners Hospital and CORTEX development all break ground
  • New residential developments are announced for Midtown and Central West End
  • McKee wins in MO Supreme Court and announces development plan for Pruitt-Igoe site
  • Municipal Courts redevelopment plan approved by city
  • Cupples #7 is purchased and stabilized
  • Arcade redevelopment moves ahead
  • Redevelopment plan announced for Jefferson Arms and financing secured
  • Chemical Building redevelopment plan announced
  • The Palladium in Midtown is preserved as the VA announces it no longer seeks the parcel for parking
  • A gas station in the city is replaced by a residential development
  • Roberts Tower gets a new retail tenant and finalizes residential component plan
  • Union Station owners announce significant redevelopment plan, including a major retailer
  • Ballpark Village breaks ground
  • Metro announces three BRT lines and support for a streetcar line, but no MetroLink expansion
  • Delmar Trolley breaks ground
  • Downtown streetcar planning goes public, with initial route planned
  • Schlafly announces new major brewing facility in St. Louis City
  • William K. Busch announces location of its first brewery in St. Louis City
  • A new microbrewery is announced for St. Louis City
  • Major collaborative effort between the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County announced.
  • Development plan for Federal Mogul site unveiled
