Metropolitan Building in Grand Center Nearing Completion

Metropolitan Building in Grand Center Nearing Completion

The Metropolitan Building at 500 N. Grand in the Grand Center neighborhood is nearing completion of its multi-million dollar rehab into 72 artist lofts. Dominium Development is the developer.

Below is a recent photograph of the building, prior to the restoration of the building’s storefront. The photograph was obtained from the development website.

And here is an even more recent photograph, courtesy of Paul Hohmann, showing off the newly restored storefront:

Below is a photograph courtesy of Built St. Louis of the building prior to rehab. Note the difference in the storefront, which is shown here to be heavily altered:

After many starts and stops, the Metropolitan Building shines once more. Perhaps Grand Center’s most visible vacant structure as late as last year, the restored Metropolitan Building will now advertise the resurgence of St. Louis’s arts and theater district. Here’s to hoping for even more residential units added to enliven what is an already beautiful neighborhood. Check out a view from one of the apartments (also from the development’s website)!
